It is often discussed at CRN that ‘beauty has no limits’, and the ambitious vision of the 62-metre Rio is certainly a testament to that. The latest true-custom steel and aluminium superyacht from CRN was delivered to her owner in May 2022, and is already known for her unmistakable pursuit–to make onboard life, uniquely pleasurable.
The bespoke superyacht Rio is described by her builder as a ‘nautical work of art’, with taut, flowing hull lines and a near-vertical bow. She oozes elegance with a dynamic and sporty personality that shines throughout her structure, and shows off the artisanal skill, design expertise and fine construction quality the shipyard is capable of.
She was designed and built by CRN in close collaboration with design and architecture studio Omega Architects, who created the exterior concept. During her construction TWW Yachts represented the owner, while TWW Yacht Management provided integral technical consultancy, with survey and project management oversight throughout the final stages of construction, and onward through her operational management.
Rio was created to meet the needs of her owner’s vision, and exudes a supreme harmony between the ample interior and exterior spaces. She evokes a strong sense of fluidity with the impression of an even greater volume and a perceptual and functional unity betweeninside and out.
This impressive superyacht features interior design by Pulina Exclusive Interiors who have penned her with sleek and contemporary design. Rio sees special attention paid to the fine details with exquisite materials used in collaboration with specially developed colour combinations to create a kaleidoscope of colour.
The owner of Rio expressly requested bright, colourful spaces and a happy atmosphere for the younger family members to enjoy. A vibrant interior design has been developed with a tropical mood by using upbeat white tones, pure lines and natural materials with juxtaposing pops of colour and vivid décor inspired by exotic motifs.
The white walls harmonise with the marine palette, from pastel turquoise to the varying shades of azure for the furnishings and textiles in custom textures. American walnut and white lacquered oak have been used for the floors and walls throughout the yacht, while Crema d’Orcia and Calacatta Vagli Oro marbles grace the bathrooms.
The yacht sees a lot of marble used with most vivid notes coming from the Azul Macauba in the saloons and the mossy Irish Green in the outdoor American bars. Rio is also adorned with stylish custom artworks and sumptuous wallpapers and jungle-style decorations that create vibrant spaces.
The four deck yacht Rio benefits from generous full-height windows that flow seamlessly into her elegant exterior architecture. The main aft deck profile revels in the harmony of designer Frank Laupman’s signature arches, which protect the deck and assure guests’ privacy while framing superb views from the side and stern.
The 1,218 GT superyacht Rio offers guests the opportunity to move freely between her interior and exterior spaces thanks to a smooth, fluid layout that is designed to unite the two areas. A sliding door unveils the main saloon with an American-style bar at the entrance. This flows into the formal dining area with an impressive bespoke drum table that seats eight but can be extended to accommodate up to 12 guests.
The central lobby of Rio revolves around the elegant staircase in bleached pickled oak that reaches all levels of the yacht. This beautiful, yet functional feature is embellished with white-leather wall coverings with continuous stitching for an extremely smooth quilted look. Also in the lobby is a lift with mirrored walls, a decorative 3D effect, and an American walnut floor with Crema d’Omarble.
The custom superyacht comfortably accommodates up to 12 guests across six modern staterooms with a whole deck dedicated to the owner. The owner’s suite is a sophisticated haven of privacy with 180 degree windows for exclusive views out to sea. At the heart of the room is a fully custom king-sized bed with a 3D effect white-leather headboard with a petrol-blue leather inlay.
The owner’s deck also includes a fabulous alfresco dining area that links to the sky lounge for a seamless transition between the two. Her deck space easily transforms into an open-air party zone with a DJ console that can be played both inside and outside the entire yacht. The whole area is tied together by an RGB lighting installation that is bound to get the party started!
The owner’s deck of Rio also includes a huge skylounge which can be used as a cinema, games room or meeting room for guests to enjoy. At the bow of this deck is an 115 square-metre open-air lounge with a teak pool for total privacy when relaxing.
Further guest accommodations are located on the main and lower decks with two full-beam VIP suites, one on each deck. The remaining three staterooms can be found on the lower deck comprising two doubles and a twin stateroom with a pullman berth. Rio is also able to carry a crew of 15 across nine cabins, also on the lower deck.
The lower deck of Rio accommodates the beach club equipped with a spectrum of water toys for unrivalled aquatic enjoyment. There is also a wellness area on this deck with a hammam and shower, as well as a fully equipped gym at the bow.
The wheelhouse deck hosts a spacious outdoor area for guests to relax with a fully custom swimming pool. This highly versatile area can also become a fully equipped open-air private cinema with a big screen and projector that slides down from the ceiling.
The impressive superyacht Rio is powered by twin Caterpillar 3512C ACERT engines that allow her to reach a top speed of 15 knots and a cruising speed of 12 knots. She is also IMO Tier III-certified meaning she emits 70 percent less harmful emission of nitrogen oxides from her engines.
